My Dear Brother

"NO! DON'T TOUCH ME! DON'T TIE ME ON THIS BED! NO....... BROTHER! BROTHER! SAVE ME! YOU PROMISED ME YOU WOULD NEVER LEAVE ME! LEAVE ME ALONE! DON'T TOUCH ME! BROTHER........." That sound came so loud from the inside of that room. My brother being tied up inside of that room. One of the room in that Sanatorium, that Sanatorium called Belle Reeve. The door to that room flipped open as one of the nurse walks out from there, rushing to get something. Andrew saw me, trying to reach his hand for me. Struggling to escape. "Brother! DON'T LEAVE ME HERE!" I turned around and looked at him as the door shuts.

Andrew was the happiest guy in the world. He was nowhere near to insane, nevertheless crazy. He does get crazy sometimes, when he started playing. Andrew and I love each other so much that we are practically best friends even as brothers. We always walked together, play together. Wherever I go, He follows. His sparkling Blue eyes always made him look so carefree. He would always grab onto my hand and tell me, ' Brother, Don't ever leave me, you do love me, do you?’ I love my brother as if he is the reason I live for. And I know I meant more than that to him.

He was only twelve that year. A young adult already, but he still follows me around, holding my hands even in public. It is embarrassing sometimes. But we still hold hands. He would tell me, ' Close your eyes, brother, I will guide you, don't you worry.' It was winter that year. The coldest winter I ever experienced, the night was like a blanket covered over the city. Without the street lights, nothing could be seen. I was not supposed to get out of home. But I did, I cycled to the stall opposite of my house. Andrew did not follow me out, because he was already fast sleep since it's past his bedtime. I had my favourite Burger, Beef Burger with Bacon and Cheese. I cycled back home, but all of a sudden a flash of light appeared in front of me, blinding my eyes. The next thing I knew, I was lying next to Andrew, on my bed. Andrew never liked to sleep alone. He would always snuggle himself into my bed. There were tears in his eyes. I pat his cheek to wake him up, wanting to ask if he was alright. He woke and looked at me. 'BROTHER! YOU'RE BACK! I knew you would never leave me! ' He wiped his tears off his cheek ' Let's go tell Mummy and Daddy.'

He grabbed my hands and pulled me downstairs. My parents were sitting at the dinner table. There are tears on their faces as well. But they rubbed it off right before Andrew ran in. ‘Mum, dad, Aaron is back' Andrew screamed with the top of his lungs. They seemed shock; they did not spout a word. At last, dad said 'Yea, we know that.' Andrew made a wide grin, pointing his index finger at me, 'You owe me one for playing a fool of Me.' and he pulled me back to our bedroom. We did what we always do. He took out our toy train set, and started setting up the train tracks and trains together. The door to the bedroom opened a little, Andrew did not notice it since he was too excited playing with the train set of his. My mum's face looked into that gap. I was bothered by the fact that mum was acting strangely. She closed the door again.

Andrew finished playing with his train set. We lay on the green double bed of mine, wandering at the ceiling, the stars that we pasted on that ceiling of ours. ‘You promise you will never leave me, right?' Andrew asked me. Although sometimes annoyed by the fact that Andrew asks me the same question every single day. But I still answered it without hesitation anyway, ' Yes, I promise' Then he raise his pinkie, ' Pinkie swear?' I grabbed on to his pinkie with my own pinkie, 'Pinkie swear'

Mum opened the door, covering her mouth while crying. Dad walked in and told Andrew, 'come, I'll be bringing you to a place' we followed dad into his car. Dad drove us to a place, a building named, Belle Reeve. Dad brought us in, and we waited. A doctor came and consults Andrew to go with him. He did not want to, but Dad insists. I'm not sure what dad wants but I followed Andrew. The doctor grabs hold of Andrew's left hand. Andrew turned to me ' Go with me, okay? Don't leave me alone' I hold his right hand, ' Okay’

We walk to the front of a door. The doctor told dad not to come in and to wait outside. Dad walked back to his seat at the waiting corner. I followed him.

'DON'T TOUCH ME! DON'T TIE ME ON THIS BED! BROTHER! BROTHER! SAVE ME!' This is where it all started. I turned back and saw the doctors tying Andrew up on a bed. This is not a hospital, this is a SANITARIUM! I ran to Dad, Shouting at him, 'Dad! Why did you bring him here? What's wrong with him? His not crazy! Don't let him suffer like that' Dad did not listen, he was looking downwards sobbing. ‘If Aaron haven't have passed on, all these would never happen!' He muttered to himself. I took a few steps backward. This is impossible. I gasped for air. I am dead? How could this happen? I turned back and looked at Andrew. He was crying, shouting out my name over and over again, 'Aaron! AARON! SAVE ME! BROTHER! YOU PROMISED ME YOU WOULD NEVER LEAVE ME! I DON'T WANT TO BE LOCKED IN HERE!' Andrew was struggling to escape, but how could he fight against an adult? The doctor is stronger. That doctor strapped Andrew on that bed, forcing him to wear a Straight Jacket. 'BROTHER!'

There was smoke appearing next to me. And a figure stood next to me. Wearing a black cloak, with a hood covering his head till his eyes, holding a scythe. ‘Who are you?' I asked. He turned to me ' Well, I'm the Grim Reaper' His eyes still covered by the top of his hood.' That boy there' He pointed to Andrew, ' He is your brother?'
'Yes'
'He really loves you a lot, doesn't him? Do you love him too?'
'Of Course I DO!'
'Then now, I shall grant you two choices to choose from. One, go to the world beyond, or two, stay here in this world as a soul with your brother. Never able to go to the world beyond, unless your brother........ ‘He made a devilish grin, ' Well, you know what I mean'

Without Hesitation, I shouted, 'TWO! Number two, I will do anything as long as I could be with my brother. Please, just let me be with him’

He made a wider grin, 'If this is what you want, this is what you shall get' He disappeared into a cloud of smoke, and there I was, still standing there, right in the middle of that room for waiting guests.

'Don't worry, Andrew. This time I would be the one to guide you. I will never leave you alone.' I ran to search for my brother. Running through that corridor, searching for my brother's room. I run past room 283, and there I saw. Andrew was wearing a white straight jacket, squatting on the floor, murmuring words. ‘Brother, you promised you would never leave me. You promised!' I push the door open and walked towards him. ‘Andrew?' He turned to me, ' Brother!' I squat and hugged him' Don't worry; you will never be alone again.'

  1. Quite good, but the ending is so abrupt. I was expecting more. Some grammatical mistakes but good piece of essay anyway. So Andrew can see ghosts?
